extra digits removed devendra has been unable to afford the surgery just yet though he’s hoping that one day he can get it as those extra fingers and toes have made his life exceptionally challenging he finds walking uncomfortable because his extra wide feet rub on whatever footwear he’s wearing he can never find footwear wide enough to be comfortable devendra is also a carpenter so he’s constantly having to avoid chopping off those extra fingers himself while working with carpentry tools there is a genetic link with this condition but none of devendra’s immediate family has it even though some people have been born with a more severe form of this condition like oxshot saxon who had ten toes on each foot and seven fingers on each hand devendra still holds the world record and all instead of having the seven vertebrae that most people have foo has ten his neck grew three inches longer than it should have and he struggles to walk while also suffering from a lot of pain foo’s condition congenital scoliosis developed when foo was in the womb it caused the bones in his spine to grow abnormally the vertebrae also press on his neck nerves which make it challenging for him to walk this along with the stairs that people give him in public mean foo doesn’t like to go out too much when foo’s story became known a charity in beijing stepped up they decided to finance treatment and a procedure that would ease his discomfort and reduce the length of his neck it’s unknown whether the now 20 year old has received surgery but it surely can’t be all that far away if it hasn’t it gets called tends to affect younger people although it can continue into later life some people find that if they continue being able to flex their joints in strange ways they suffer from joint
